Getting Around Island Style
Visitors to Fiji have a range of options available to get themselves around. There are two principal domestic airlines to choose from to take visitors to other islands. Check for your clients before they depart and if air-passes are applicable.
Within Fiji, taxis and buses are plentiful and fares are reasonable. All major car rental companies are represented and offer compacts to 4-wheel drive vehicles. There are numerous air-con coaches serving resorts and cities. However, visitors also prefer the adventure of using local, open-window buses so they can take in the sights and sounds of the passing scenes.
Domestic Airports
The two major domestic airports for tourists are at Nadi International Airport and Nausori Airport, just northeast of Suva. Domestic departures and arrivals at Nadi are located next to the international departures area.
Both major domestic carriers allow one piece of checked luggage (not to exceed 15 or 20kgs depending on the sector) and one carry on.
Excess baggage is at extra cost.
